The movie is produced by Bob Cooper and Michael Birnbaum. This is an example of a mainstream film.
In the opening of the film main characters are introduced and it is explained how the main character has moved new to the town.
The characters introduced in the opening include:
Kate-the main girl
John Tucker
Kate's mother
Through the film we watch Kate help 3 of John Tucker's exes to try and 'defeat' John Tucker. They do this by trying to break his heart, bu the plan backfires when she starts having feelings for him, and John Tucker's brother realizes what she is trying to do.
There are lots of stereotypes such as the cheerleaders, the jocks, the smart girls etc. They all start pout in opposition but by the end of the film they all come together.
In this film the main adult in the film ( Kate's mother) acts as a caring role giving advice.
We see lots of group shots but see lots of close ups to show emotion especially after a dramatic scene.
We have lots of non diagetic music to set the tone and portray the characters feelings and emotions, this is very effective.
Diagetic sounds include talking (in american accents) and just noise from surroundings e.g footsteps etc.
There is quite bright lighting throughout the film as it is set in a school. This also suggest it is a romance due to the bright lighting opposed to darker lighting which could be the lighting of a horror.
The key locations are the school and Kate's house.
