Changes to ideas

After doing our pitch we had to rearrange our production schedule andinstead of doing dilming on the Satursday like we had initally planned, we decided to film during our lesson time. We decided this was best as some people were unavailable on weekends and we wanted to get all our footage recorded as soon as possible so we could see what we were working with and if we wanted to refilm bits of footage we had the time to be able to do this, this could potebtially also allow us extra editing time.
We also had to change our storyboard and add bits on. This meant we had extra footage which we could add on incase we did not have enough footage. We also had to change the location of our scene due to travel issues and the time it would take to get there. As a result of this we had to add to our storyboard and make changes to our production schedule.

Blogging feedback

You are progressing with some promise Zahra and there is evidence of some proficient research. Please can you read through my comments below regarding the current strengths and less strong aspects of your blog and the complete the to do list at the bottom of the page:
strengths:
- mostly completed tasks for research
- some detail in some posts

less strong:
- multi-posting - you post more than one task on a single posts which is affecting your blog count (you look like you have done less than you have)
- titles for blog posts are not very clear or detailed - just the blog task number isn't clear enough and you could loose marks for communication here
- some research tasks not complete / missing
- reliance on text and screen grabs or hyperlinks to present ideas

to do:
1. give full title name to posts - not just the blog task number
2. go back and separate any posts with more than one task on it
3. begin to think about interesting ways to post your work using ICT
4 make sure any hyperlinks you use work

Based upon my feedback I have separated my blog posts to show the actual amount of work I have done as a lot of my posts were joined together. I have also began renaming my posts, I also used sites such as slideshare as a way of using technology to show my work.

Filming update 2

On Wednesday 28th January we went filming during our 3 hour lesson.
We travelled by bus to Abney park. We followed our health and safety guidelines by tweeting what we were doing and posting pictures. We travelled to Abney park by the 73 bus.
We filmed shots 1-14. This included tracking shots, close ups, mid shots and shots of landscape.
We took a tripod, camera and umbrella because as part of our planning we saw it was going to rain. We decided to go on this day despite the rain as we felt the gloomy weather would add to the scene and help set the atmosphere.
We finished filming before it started raining and therefore experienced no major difficulties.

Filming update

On Monday 26th January we began filming. We walked to Myddleton park in Islington. We then filmed shots 32-33 this included close ups, wide shots, tracking shots and over the shoulder shots. In this scene we watch the girl  waiting for the man, and see the man watching the girl as she waits. We initially planned to go to the canal in Islington but found it would take to long to travel there and there were many health and safety risks, we decided to go to a park based upon this and this park was in close proximity and was suitable for the scene. We took with us a camera and a tripod.

Initial ideas

Which sub genre will you create?

The sub-genre we're creating is a thriller youth drama.

Initial plot/storyline ideas?

Our initial plot/storyline idea was similar to our current idea. However, instead of being murdered she'd be raped, but we thought this would be distasteful and extremely sensitive for our target audience, the scenes would also be difficult.

The social groups we'll be introducing;

Popular people
Quiet/Nerds
Elderly people (Mother/Father)
Troublesome people (Murderer)

costumes

One of our characters is a teenage girl who will be dressed simple, mostly jeans and a top. She will mostly wear dull colours to show the season as it is winter and skinny jeans to show she is young.

Another one of our characters is the person who meets the girl online. He puts up fake pictures and lies about his age, but when she meets him his face isn't revealed. He will wear black clothing and hoodies to show danger and mystery.

An edited sound on 10 things I hate about you

final product
planning: getting started
Started off with an upbeat 2 step beat
Then layered it with other instruments i.e a step thumb bass and jazzy, sexy guitar
After that we started adding effects and fading different instruments out

We used those instruments to fit the mood and theme of the movie. The instruments also fit with the era of the movie and when it was done.

Types of title sequences

I prefer discrete title sequence for example the great expectations title sequence.

inital idea(Q.21)

We’ve decided to do a youth drama about a teenage girl that gets murdered by a man she meets online. A young adult, around 20, will catfish the girl and act like a young boy that is her age. Although her friends convince her to stop talking to him, she doesn’t listen and claims she is in ‘love’. He will then arrange to meet up with her and kidnap her then murder her.

Cast:
Zahra -  the girl that gets murdered (Sarah)
Dilem – Sarah’s friend (Dianne)
Malachi – Man that murders Sarah
Ernistina – Parent

Some of the places we have decided to film are:
Graveyard
Bedroom
School
Public place (shopping city)

A social group included is a group of teenage girls, ‘popular’ girls.
The man is a lonely man that lives alone without any family or friends.

High school movie Analysis

High school movie analysis of my choice is: High School Musical 2!

Camera: Close-up shots - expressions and emotions of the high school students, very frequent throughout the movie as they are very dramatic and express a lot of emotions, Long shots - show the scenery and environment, also show the clothes they're wearing to give some background on what the movie is likely to be about, mid-shots - show the body language of the teens, Shot/reverse shot - the conversing between the high schoolers.

Editing: Jump-cuts - show the events happening in different locations and the thoughts, emotions, feelings the teens are having, Ellipsis, flashing lights - showing how fancy and cool the teens are in a more "upper class" high school.

Sound: Even more musical style with soundtracks from different genres (Jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, pop) live musical instruments to add to the musical theme.

M.E.S: cell-phones, sports outfits (cheer leading pom poms, soccer gear), cafeteria, lunch tables, bedrooms, city life, busy people, more casual dress sense, high school musical 2 has a much more mature concept with a lot more couples.

Sub-genre conventions - Analysis of camera, editing, sound, and M.E.S in High School and Youth Drama

Analysis of Kidulthood

Camera: Close-up shots - convey emotion of character and give clearer understanding for the viewer, Longshot - Show the scene and environment the youth are living in (not very nice), also shows the clothes they wear so the viewer can understand the social context and gain a sense of the story, Medium shot - Shows the body language of the youth and also their expressions, Shot/reverse shot - display the conversation between two speakers.

Editing: Jump cuts - to show the events happening at different periods of time at different locations, links the story together, Ellipsis, Slow motion - slowing down of time shows the mental breakdown the youth is having and the struggle.

Sound: a lot of urban soundtracks being played to go with the urban story line, sound of people conversing, a lot of shouting, strong language, sexual noises throughout, weapon sounds (bats, guns, knives).

M.E.S: mobile-phones, weapons (knives, bats, guns), alcohol, drugs, clothing (very urban in the "ends" but more sophisticated in the city), blocks of flats, messy cluttered bedrooms, fancy/middle-class cars show that lower-class (which is a lot of the people in that environment) cannot afford cars.

Analysis of High School Musical

Camera: Close-up shots - expressions and emotions of the high school students, very frequent throughout the movie as they are very dramatic and express a lot of emotions, Long shots - show the scenery and environment, also show the clothes they're wearing to give some background on what the movie is likely to be about, mid-shots - show the body language of the teens, Shot/reverse shot - the conversing between the high schoolers.

Editing: Jump-cuts - show the events happening in different locations and the thoughts, emotions, feelings the teens are having, Ellipsis, flashing lights - showing how fancy and cool the teens are in a more "upper class" high school (typical of american high school movies).

Sound: A lot of musical style music and soundtracks, ranging from up-beat and fast tempos to slow, more subtle ballads, conversing, shouting, musical instruments (bands).

M.E.S: cell-phones, sports outfits (cheerleading pom poms, soccer gear), cafeteria, lunch tables, bedrooms, city life, busy people, more casual dress sense.
